Pekarsky Family
We have traced the Pekarsky family back to Iosif Pekarsky. He was born around 1820 in the shtetl Khodorkov, near Kiev in Ukraine. Iosif and his wife Sura had a son Shlomoh, who was born around 1842 in Khodorkov. They also had two other sons (Udlya and Zelman), about whom we know nothing. Shlomoh later moved east to another shtetl called Kotelnya (Staraya Kotelnya), where he and his wife, Maron, started their family. Four of their children--Bluma (born 1873), Moshko (1876), Chaim (1878), and Itskhok (1880)--brought their families to North America in the early 1900s to flee the poverty and persecution of the old country.
